Estate Sales - Washington GA

Mom and I took a little road trip to Washington GA last weekend for an Estate Sale. I think both our jaws hit the floor at first sight of the lovely old home.

We attended the sale on a Saturday and everything was 50% off. That can be a good thing or a bad thing I guess, great prices but less to pick from. I would have loved to have been able to go on the first day to see what all was there. It was somewhat cleaned out when we got there so I had to really dig to find some good junk.

I didn't walk away with as much as I would have liked but I did get a few good pieces (at least I think they are good pieces, Mom always looks at what I pick up and I swear she gives me an eye roll when I am not looking).

Sweet little Ohio Art Co watering can, it is tiny and so adorable!

I don't know why, but I love these old paperweights, this one is dated 1949.

My photo doesn't do this beautiful small pint justice, it is lovely in a Italian Florentine frame.

Salvage usually sells well for me. Love this old water faucet.

Well what can I say, I had to save this. It is a partial piece of a 1930's movie poster, really in delicate condition but I loved the graphics and colors, just look at those two!

This is an old blueprint for a house in Atlanta, 1939. Would be a great piece to frame and hang on the wall.

I'm going to be honest, I did not know what these were when I picked them up but I just loved the look of them. Once I got home I found out they are surveyor's measuring sticks. There would have been three pieces I believe, so not a complete set, but I still love them. No idea what I am going to do with them yet.

After we left the sale we drove down to the square in Washington and looked through a few shops and Art Galleries. I stumbled across a good find in one of the antique shops. I picked up a framed vintage cardboard catalog page and really fell in love with it, when I asked the shop lady about it she said she thought she still had the catalog it came out of. She dug it out and I ended up buying it too (it had two more good pages in it).

We stopped by Antique and Uncle Junk's in Thomson GA on our way home, but not much luck there. Just bought an old stamp for $2.

It was a fun day spent with my best friend - my wonderful mother!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Estate Sale, Church Sales and Yard Sales

Mom and I finally had a really good couple of weeks in our junk hunting quest and I really needed it. I have no problem admitting that I am addicted to junk and it has been a long while since we have hit a good sale and both walked away completely satisfied. Last weekend we hit a couple of yard sales, a church sale and an Estate Sale.

The church sale that we attended is a semi annual event and I haven't found anything there the past couple of times I have attended. I told Mom before we got there I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Found a couple of wonderful vintage Christmas items!

Aren't these two guys just adorable!

Lovely Wax Angel!

I also found this cute vintage box of Duck and Chicken Train Set Candle Holders, I just love them! The lead guy is a bobble head!

The estate sale yielded numerous vintage treasures!

Vintage 8" Hat Pins in Original packaging. Late 1800's I am thinking.

Not sure of the age of these cards but I love the Art Deco style.

Lots of little dolls needing to be rescued. The tree topper was found at the Church Sale.

Marked Germany, this little cart holds some circus animals. Haven't really researched it yet so not sure of it's age.

I squealed with delight when I opened a box in the garage and found this sweet couple!

Loved the little doll dresser. The tin picnic basket was found at a garage sale for $1.

This cake plate is to die for. It is just so gorgeous! I believe it is 1930's Fostoria. I will be keeping this lovely for myself.

This past Wednesday I ran over to an estate sale to get a feel for the prices, they were pretty steep but I did find a couple of things I think were good buys. I had to have the little boy mannequin store display and the Wendt and Kuhn music box was a good buy for resale. It still plays beautifully.

So yeah, we have had a good couple of weeks, hoping the trend continues.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
